Limpopo, Naboomspruit (Waterberg) Basecamp

This hiking trail is situated on a private game farm, an area of 1200 hectares in the district of Nylstroom (Modimole) and Naboomspruit, (Mokgopong). 140 km of Pretoria. Only 1½ hour from PTA/JHB.

Trail

It is a two day circular trail, 12 km the first and 12 km or 6km the second day with an moderate/average grading.

The 20km trails is only recommended for very strong, able and fit hikers. Grading: Difficult

The trails stretch over an unusual combination of valleys, gorges, savannah and mountain streams, rock pools with crystal clear water, indigenous forest, waterfalls and panoramic views of the Waterberg await the hiker.

Accommodation

  • Wood for sale at R150 for a bag. To be ordered in advance and payable there in cash.

  • One Bedroom with a double bed and 2 single beds and one room with a double bed.
  • Inside toilet and shower. 
  • Fridge, kettle, and gas stove.
  • Outside shower, bath, and toilet

Bring everything: Linen, Cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, pots, and pans.

Please bring your own pillows, Towels, Dishcloths, and Tablecloths.

Cutlery and crockery are available at an additional cost you will pay R 300.00 per adult per night

RIVER CAMP

They have River camps 1, 2, and 3.

All three camps have hot water showers; flush toilets; own braai & scullery; tap; rubbish bin; table and bench;  

ELECTRICAL POINTS at campsites.

HIKERS REMEMBER: If you camp for 1 night or more, you have to pay the additional hiking permit fee of R150-00 for the hiking trail.

Other Activities

Birdwatchers Paradise

Situated in the Waterberg, in the catchment of the Nylsvlei Wetlands.

Here you can see Gymnogene, Mountain Wagtail, Mocking Chat, Green Twinspot, African Green-Pigeon and Black Eagle, to name a few, additional to the great variety at Nylsvlei.

Photography

With such variety of wildlife and activities, there is plentiful opportunity to capture something different.

Trail Running

The trails are well-maintained basecamp trails with beautiful scenery. The first day is a 13km hike with a lot of rock pools that are a great cool off in summer. The shorter 5km hike the second day is a easy hike. Swimming in the swim spots and picnic on the way is great fun. Both days start and end at the lodge.

7-9 Kg Bundles Firewood available @ R 20 per bundle.

All Guests note: There are no Potjie pots available at any camp or chalets, please ensure to bring your own. If you want to make potjie during your stay
